ABODA SA is proud to once again present the SA School Band and Orchestra Festival, where over 3000 students from nearly 40 schools will perform at Westminster School over 4 days.
2024 Schedule changes
In 2024, the SA School Band and Orchestra Festival will run over four days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at Westminster School.
Important dates:
Registration for the 2024 SA School Band and Orchestra Festival will open on Monday May 20th and will close on Friday June 21st.

Vale Nick Mulder
ABODA SA is incredibly saddened to learn of the untimely passing of long-time friend and member Nick Mulder this week.
Nick was an enthusiastic contributor to the SA School Band and Orchestra Festival over many years as band director, adjudicator and composer of the test repertoire pieces. His skills in imparting musical advice to ensembles and their directors in adjudication was highly developed and insightful.
Nick’s musical perception and depth of understanding of big band ensemble playing was outstanding. He always framed his advice in a positive, supportive manner; as an educator of his high standing does.
Nick was an amazing musician, composer, band director and he was always willing to offer help and advice – especially in the de-brief “hang” afterwards. His untimely departure from this world leaves a huge hole in music education circles, and especially in our hearts.
On behalf of ABODA SA and the wider music community, thank you Nick for your amazing contribution and being such a great supporter of the music world in Adelaide. Our heartfelt condolences go to Nick’s family and friends.
The void will never be filled but your wonderful legacy will live on forever through the music you created. Thanks for the memories.
Attending the Festival
All Festival performances are open to the public, and we encourage students’ family and friends to come and support the ensembles. Entry to the Festival is by gold coin donation at the door to the auditorium.
Schools and ensemble directors are encouraged to maintain membership of ABODA SA throughout the year to gain access to professional development opportunities made available exclusively to members. Futher information about PD can be found here.
